Church to sponsor basketball camp

College Heights Baptist Church will sponsor a basketball camp for boys and girls in grades four through nine from 7 to 9 p.m. today through Wednesday. The camp will be led by Coach Will Pratz, who has led Bell Shoals Baptist Academy to 107 wins and three losses in five years. Lifeguard class, swim lessons planned

A lifeguard class will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today through Thursday at the Skyview High School pool. The class costs $125 and is open to people 15 or older.

The pool also will host two more sessions of swim lessons this summer. Session three runs July 14 to 25, and session four runs July 28 to Aug. 8. The cost is $40 for 10, 45-minute lessons.

Chamber to discuss workforce development

Airport commission to hold special meeting

The Kenai Airport Commission will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Kenai City Council chambers to discuss proposed modifications to gates, fencing, property lines and public parking in the general aviation area at the Kenai Municipal Airport. Basketball camp deadline approaches

The Boys and Girls Club will sponsor Gym Rats Basketball Camp with Molly Tuter this summer. Participants must register by Friday at the Kenai Boys and Girls Club and must be club members.

The camp will run Aug. 4 to 6 and is open to girls in grades three through 12. Girls in grades three through six will meet from 9 a.m. to noon at the Kenai Boys and Girls Club. Seventh- and eighth-graders will meet from 1 to 4 p.m. at Kenai Middle School. Ninth- through 12th-graders will meet from 5 to 8 p.m. at Kenai Middle School.

The cost is $50 for participants in third through sixth grade, and $75 for older students. Limited scholarships are available. For more information, call the club at 283-2682.

LSi founder to speak in Sterling

Dale VanSteenis, founder of Leadership Strategies Inc., will speak at Abundant Life Assembly of God in Sterling on Sunday. LSi trains church leadership, helps plant new churches and provides humanitarian aid worldwide. Services are at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. For more information, call 262-7266.

Power wheelchairs available

The Senior Wheels USA Program makes available power wheelchairs to senior citizens 65 and older, as well as qualifying individuals who are permanently disabled. The wheelchairs are designed for those who cannot walk and cannot self-propel a manual wheelchair, and who meet the additional guidelines of the program. No deposit is required.
