Kenai resident Sandra "Sandy" Lee Hankins died unexpectedly Thursday, July 1, 2004, at her home in Kenai. She was 28.
A viewing will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, July 8, at Peninsula Memorial Chapel, 5839 Kenai Spur Highway in Kenai. Graveside services and burial will follow at the Kenai City Cemetery. Pastor Brad Traxler will officiate.
Miss Hankins was born Feb. 24, 1976, in Collean, Texas, where she was raised. In her mid-teens, she and her family moved to Estes Park, Colo., where she attended high school. Miss Hankins then moved to Kenai in 2001, where she has resided ever since.
She was raised Baptist and was involved with the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Kenai. She enjoyed painting, drawing and photography.
"Sandy was very special to her family. She had a wonderful smile and a sense of humor. Sandy was well-liked by all who knew her," her family said.
Miss Hankins was preceded in death by her grandparents, Thelma Ruth and Virgil Lee Passion
She is survived by her mother and father, Linda and Timothy Sutton of Kenai; sister, Cynthia Lofton of Louisiana; birth father, Michael Lofton of Louisiana; aunts, Carolyn Sue Tupin and Deborah Kay Miller, both of Hilton, Okla.; grandfather, Dr. Layton Sutton of Keane, Texas; and many friends in the community.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
