River Quest land owners meeting set

The Kenai River Center will host an informational meeting for River Quest property owners at 1 p.m. Friday. The meeting will be held at the River Quest office. The meeting is intended to familiarize River Quest property owners with the requirements for building and living along the Kenai River.

Topics will be construction (allowable types and deadlines), setback requirements, base flood elevation, walkways and floating docks. There will be an opportunity for questions.

Representatives from the Kenai Peninsula Borough planning department, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Alaska State Parks and the DNR Office of Habitat Management and Permitting are expected to attend. Raffle fund-raiser, golf tourney set

The Kenai Firefighters Association's 15th annual golf tournament will be held Saturday at the Kenai Golf Course. Tee time is at 8 a.m. Registration begins at 7 a.m. Prizes will be given to the top three teams, for the longest drive and closest to the pin. Barbecue and drinks will be provided. Door prizes will be given away at the barbecue. Preregister at the Kenai Fire Department on Willow Street or call 283-4557.

The association also is holding a raffle fund-raiser for a 2005 Polaris Sportsman 440 and a Winchester MDL 70 338 with a Leupold 3 by 9 scope. Only 500 tickets will be sold. Tickets cost $20 each. The drawing will be held at the Kenai Golf Course following the 15th annual Firefighters Association gold tournament.

Instructional shooting clinic on target

The National Rifle Association's Women On Target program is sponsoring an instructional shooting clinic for women at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Cooper Landing Gun Club at Mile 1.5 of Bean Creel Road. The cost is $50 per person.

All necessary equipment will be provided. The clinic will feature an NRA basic shotgun course. To register, call Pat Dye at (907) 595-1512.

Toyz for Totz poker run scheduled

Kenai Peninsula ABATE will hold a motorcycle poker fun run at 11 a.m. Saturday at A-1 Enterprises in Soldotna. Registration is prior to the run. It is open to all riders. There will be a free T-shirt and the opportunity to win a new Victory motorcycle for the first 100 entrants. For more information, call Scott Hamann at 776-7676.

FCS baseball world series set

The Frontier Community Services in cooperation with Kenai Little League will host its annual World Series Baseball event at noon Saturday at the Kenai Little League ball fields on South Spruce Street.

Frontier Community Services provides quality individualized services for people of all ages, who are at risk of or are experiencing a disabling condition.

The event is a day of social activity and creates an opportunity for personal accomplishment of players.
