Nonprofits dine on information

Nonprofit organization executive directors are invited to a no-host breakfast at 7 a.m. today at Charlotte's Restaurant in Kenai.

The purpose is to discuss mutual administrative interests such as legislation, event dates, media freebies and upcoming seminars.

Seniors open children's library

The Sterling Area Senior Center is operating a children's library at the center during the months of July and August. Partnering with Sterling Elementary, Elaine's Second Hand Shop and Triumvirate Books have loaned books for check out. The library will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 3 p.m. to preschool and elementary school children. Center members and Americorp members will serve as librarians.

Car seat check-ups planned

Safe Kids Kenai Peninsula/Central Peninsula Hospital will hold car seat check-ups at the following locations.

* Aug. 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Kenai Fire Department;

* July 16 and Aug. 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Central Emergency Services Soldotna Fire Department; and

* July 28 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Nikiski Fire Department No. 1. For more information, call Jane Fellman at 714-4539.

Ham fest tunes in

The Moosehorn Amateur Radio Club will sponsor a Hamfest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 18 at the Borough Emergency Management Building on Wilson Way in Soldotna.

Amateur radio operators and the general public are invited. Tables are available to rent for radio related electronic equipment at 9 a.m. License testing will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
