Soldotna residents Jean and Hal Fimpel will celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary July 13.
They met via the mail, through a mutual friend, while Hal was aboard a de-stroyer during the Korean conflict. They were married in San Diego, Calif.
In 1974, they moved to Alaska, where they owned and operated Eureka Lodge on the Glenn Highway for 10 years.
Hal currently is the food manager for Wildwood Correc-tional Center. Jean retired from Lamont's to care for two of their four grandchildren.
Jean and Hal have a son Jim, who now owns Eureka Lodge, and a daughter, Jan Fenton, who is a registered nurse at Central Peninsula General Hospital in Soldotna. Their four grandchildren are Johana and Ryan Fimpel, and Molly and Tyler Fenton of Soldotna.
Friends and family will celebrate the occasion at Eureka Lodge.
