Samuel Dempsey Adams Sr. and Anita Louise Willhite' Adams celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and renewed their wedding vows Monday, June 11, 2007, at Mountain Baptist Church in Nikiski. Pastor Lee Moore officiated.

Anita was escorted down the aisle by her two grandsons to the couple's song, "Young Love," by Sonny James. When the pastor asked, "Who gives the bride away," the couples children and grandchildren replied, "We do."

During the reception held downstairs in the church, a backdrop of 1950s music entertained the couple's children, Phyllis K. Carlos and her husband, Joe, of Eagle River, Sarah Thomas and her husband, Rex, from Williston, N.D., and Sammy Adams Jr. of Nikiski; and grandchildren Robert Thomas and his wife, Misty, Jessica Thomas, Brittany Adams and Logan and Krista Carlos.

Sam originally hails from Smackover, Ark., and Anita was from Farmerville, La.

The couple have made their home in Nikiski for the past 39 years.
