Many help make memorable night for SoHi class of 2002

On behalf of the Soldotna High School Parents of Seniors Committee, I would like to thank all the parents, friends of parents, relatives, individuals and businesses who gave so generously of their time, talents and money to the Class of 2002 After Graduation Party. It takes a tremendous amount of effort to pull an event of this magnitude together much less entice a very diverse group of graduates to attend. Thanks to many, the all-night party this year was a huge success.

The Soldotna Sports Center was the perfect setting, and 95 percent of the Soldotna High School graduating seniors attended. There were terrific decorations, great food, music, dancing, floor and board games, and fabulous door prizes for every senior. Everything was donated -- even the parents who chaperoned.

I am very proud to be a part of a community that cares about kids and makes their safety a top priority. We could not have done the job without the help of many, many friends and neighbors.

Donations help peninsula athlete compete in Junior Olympics

In March, I qualified to ski on the Alaska Team that competed at the Junior Olympics in Idaho.

The donations made by the following people, organizations and businesses made financing my trip much easier. I would like to thank Gerri Litzenberger, Kelly Keating, Dr. Theodore Barton, Dr. Henry Krull and Kenai Peninsula Orthopaedics, Bonnie Nichols and Central Peninsula General Hospital, Dr. Carole Buchholz, Dr. Todd Boling and the Peninsula Surgical Clinic, Dr. Bobbie Behrens, Susan Anderson and Choice Realty, Wes Roberts and Edward Jones, Dr. Byron McCord, Peninsula Internal Medicine, and Bill and Carol Keller. These donations provided me with the opportunity to race and compete at a higher level.

I also would like to thank the Curly Ashfield Memorial Fund Inc. for its generous donation that helped finance my trip to Idaho. I feel very fortunate to have received this donation.

Thank you all for the generous donations.
