ANCHORAGE (AP) A woman has died of injuries sustained late last month in an accident on the Seward Highway.

Elaine M. Gutleben, 80, of Alameda, Calif., had been hospitalized at Providence Alaska Medical Center since the accident June 28.

An investigation determined that Chester T. Gutleben, 83, was driving south when he fell asleep at the wheel. His SUV went off the right side of the highway, rolled several times and came to rest in a creek.

Chester Gutleben; Philip J. Gutleben, 55, of Bethel; and Lloyd H. Day, 55, of Santa Rosa, Calif.; were transported to Kenai Peninsula Hospital.

A helicopter took Elaine Gutleben to Anchorage. She died Monday night.
