Sprint cars come to Twin City Raceway

The Kenai Peninsula Racing Lions Circle Track Division will host winged sprint cars from around the state Friday and Saturday for the first Sprint Invitational of the year.

Racing begins Friday at 7 p.m. and continues Saturday at 1 p.m. at Twin City Raceway. Time-ins will take place an hour before start time each day.

In Sunday's circle track action, Cameron McGahan had the best finish in the sprint car competition, accumulating 28 points, one better than his father Jackie, through the trophy dash, heat one, heat two and the main event.

Jim Gladish was the top finisher in the B-stock races and Don Akers was the top finisher in the A-Stock event.

Football referee meeting scheduled

The Kenai Peninsula Football Officials Association will have a general membership meeting Monday at 6 p.m. at Skyview High School. Anyone interested in officiating either Pop Warner or high school football is invited to attend. For more information, contact Randy Sparks at 262-7293.

Pop Warner late registration in progress

Pop Warner late registration is in progress. Teams are filling up quickly. Practices will begin Aug. 2. Registration can be done online at or by contacting Wendi at 260-3989 or Elizabeth at 262-5095.
