Swim lessons make a splash

Swim lessons are offered at the following pools:

· Soldotna High School — Swim sessions will be 10 days of lessons, for 40 minutes. Lessons are open for children ages 3 and older. Preregistration is recommended. Lessons will be held: today - July 20 and July 23-Aug. 3. Lessons are offered six different times a day. For more information, call 262-7419. The cost is $40 for swim lessons set. Private lessons are available.

· Kenai Central High School — Swim lessons: Eight days of swim lessons for 40 minutes Tuesdays through Fridays (call for times). Preregistration required. Lessons will be held July 17-27.

The cost is $32 per swim lesson session; $3 for lap swim or open swim; or $25 for a punch card with 10 punches on the card. For more information, call 283-7476.

· Nikiski pool — Swimming lessons will be held: July 17- Aug. 2. For more information, call 776-8800.

· Skyview pool — Eight to 10 days of swim lessons for 45 minutes Monday through Friday. Call 262-3905 for details and to pre-register. Lessons will be held: today-July 20 and July 23 - Aug. 3. Swim activities for adult and children with special needs also are offered.

PFLAG to meet

Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday. For more information and location of meeting, call 283-4678.

First Aid, CPR offered

The American Red Cross will hold First Aid, CPR and AED class from 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at its office at 503 Frontage Road in Kenai. For more information, call 283-4556.

Fire station open house set

The Kasilof Fire Station ribbon cutting and open house will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday.

A special FireWise plaque presentation will be made to Kasilof FireWise volunteers. Fire safety, FireWise and insurance information also will be available. For more information, call CES at 262-4792.

Golf tourney fundraiser set to swing

The American Red Cross will host its 16th annual American Red Cross Golf tournament July 28 at the Bird Homestead Golf Course. For more information, call Annette Hakkinen at 283-4556.

Hamfest slated

The Moosehorn Amateur Radio Club will host a Hamfest, to buy and sell amateur radio equipment, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Cook Inlet Academy School at 45827 Kalifornsky Beach Road.
