Time to stop underwriting insurance executives' pay

Posted: Thursday, July 09, 2009

The two things I hate most -- dealing with medical insurance companies and my annual prostate examination -- leave me with the same sensation afterward. My friend has a contact within a large insurance company; she confidentially stated that her company's strategy is to make it as hard as possible for Joe Policy-holder to claim the benefits he is entitled to.

Twenty-eight percent of our health care dollars line the pockets of insurance companies. No wonder medical insurance fat-cats tremble at the thought of a government-sponsored health plan. Even the government can administer health care benefits more efficiently than insurance companies can!

Let Sens. Begich and Murkowski and Rep. Young know how you feel about this. Murkowski and Young are probably against a government health care option. If so, they are rubbing your nose in their belief that insurance company profits come before your family's health and your financial security.

Contact Murkowski and Young and tell them that we won't underwrite the lifestyles of rich and famous insurance executives anymore.
