Sterling resident Ramona Cason died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at her daughter's home in Sterling of lung cancer. She was 72.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Sterling United Pentecostal Church. Pastor Mitch Glover will officiate.
Mrs. Cason was born on July 27, 1928, in Albion, Idaho. She moved to Alaska June 6, 1978, and resided in Sterling. Mrs. Cason worked as a waitress and a homemaker. She was well known for her special talents in knitting, sewing and making crafts.
"Ramona's life centered around her grandchildren. She was involved and was supportive in her grandchildren's activities and lives," her family said. "She was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed."
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lela Broadhead; sisters Ruby, Marie and Elnora; brothers Blue and Kendall; and daughter Lila Darlene.
Mrs. Cason is survived by her husband of 55 years, Vannoy Cason; daughters and sons-in-law Karlene and Gary Muller and Charlene and Dennis Smith; grandchildren Shelly, Jess, Lisa, Dustin, Andrew and Laura; and great-grandson Korban.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
