CARTS partners to meet today

The Central Area Rural Transit System Inc. Advisory Partners will meet at 3 p.m. today at the CARTS office, 43530 Kalifornsky Beach Road near Poppy Lane.

Art restoration featured in program

Marty Hapeman, artist and owner of Art Works, will present a program on archival treatment of art work today at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center's "Arts on the Kenai" interpretive program at 3 p.m. For more information, call Jay Barrett at 283-1991.

Lieutenant governor candidates to speak

The Kenai Chamber of Commerce will host a "Meet the Candidates for Lieutenant Governor Forum" today at its noon meeting at Paradisos Restaurant. Judge Charles Cranston will moderate the discussion. Candidates Sara Palin, Gail Phillips, Ernie Hall, Loren Leman, Diane Benson and Robin Taylor will be present. For more information, call 283-7989.

Senior center plans events

The Soldotna Senior Citizens Center's summer bazaar will be July 26 and 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the center, 197 W. Park Ave. There will be a selection of crafts, baked goods, jams and jellies.

Winning designs from the Quilting on the Kenai show also will be on display. July 27, as part of the endowment board of trustees' fund-raiser. There also will be a barbecue, wool spinning display and petting zoo from noon to 4 p.m.

Progress Days applications available at chamber

Parade and vendor applications are available at the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce office for the 2002 Progress Days celebration July 26-28. For more information, call 262-9814.

Teacher's institute planned

The Challenger Learning Center of Alaska and the Alaska Science Consortium are partnering to sponsor the first week-long summer institute for teachers to be held at the center in Kenai. Teachers of grades three though eight will receive hands-on physical science and space science curriculum at the institute scheduled for Aug. 5-9.

WRCC has clothing available

The Women's Resource and Crisis Center has free clothing for infants, children, women and men. The Clothes Closet is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call, Barbara at 283-9479.

WRCC in need of volunteers

The Women's Resource and Crisis Center needs volunteers. Anyone interested in volunteering time at the shelter, transitional living center or nutritional or child care programs can pick up an application at the center.

The WRCC is also in need of community members' help in coordinating the women's run scheduled for Aug. 10 or the radiothon scheduled for Sept. 9. For more information about any of these, call 283-9479.
