The American Legion Twins defeated Dimond by scores of 13-2 and 16-1 Saturday in Anchorage. The Twins are now 19-9 overall and 17-7 in league play.
"You can't argue with that, scoring 29 runs and only giving up three," Twins manager John Kennedy said.
In the first game, the Twins collected 12 hits in a game that was shortened to seven innings due to the mercy rule.
Jacob Madrid was 4-for-5 with five RBIs, Jeff Kennedy was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Justin Simpson was 2-for-5 with an RBI and Luke Oliver was 2-for-3 with three runs.
Alex Johansen scattered seven hits to pick up the win for the Twins, who did not commit an error in the game.
In the second game, Dimond pitchers walked 10 batters and the Twins collected eight hits in a game that was shortened to five innings.
"We didn't hit the ball, and we didn't have to, either," Kennedy said. "The kids were disciplined enough to take the walks."
The Twins actually scored two runs by getting hit by pitches while the bases were loaded.
Shawn Issacs was 2-for-3 with three runs and a home run, Madrid was 1-for-1 with two runs and an RBI; Travis Mercier was 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs, Jeff Kennedy was 1-for-3 with a run and three RBIs and Jordan Waters was 1-for-1 with two RBIs.
The Twins stay in Anchorage to play West in a 12:30 p.m. doubleheader today.
