ANCHORAGE (AP) Korean Air will add three weekly flights to Anchorage this summer.
In addition to its regular schedule, Korean Air has added 12 direct flights from Seoul to Anchorage from July 18 through August 19.
The flights are scheduled on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with the capacity of bringing up to 300 visitors to Alaska per trip.
Korean Air officials anticipate that 2,000 Korean tourists will visit the state this summer over twice the number of visitors over last summer, according to the Alaska Travel Industry.
An additional 1,100 Japanese tourists are expected to take advantage of the new travel opportunity, the organization said.
''Expanding Alaska's global visitor horizons is critical to growing the visitor industry,'' said Bruce Bustamante, president and CEO of the Anchorage Convention and Visitors Bureau.
