Time to put the Shanta Creek fire out
We all think it is time to put the Shantatalik Creek Fire out (we are dying here). We can barely breath and we all expect company in the next week from the Lower 48 who spend money. Our economy is bad enough without your help. The decision to not put it out was based in need but the need has been served and now the needs of us humans need to be served.
Assembly president: Actions were misinterpreted
In recent letters to the editor of the Peninsula Clarion, both Mike McBride and Vicki Pate have accused me of something that never occurred. They obviously misinterpreted information from a past news article.

Shanta Creek blaze grows: Fire burning 10,000 acres
The Shantatalik Creek fire grew to between 8,000 and 10,000 acres as of Thursday evening, and a National Emergency Management Organization team has assumed command of the blaze which has blanketed parts of the central peninsula in smoke this week.

Balls go up in smoke
Really enjoying this great weather! With warm weather comes the chance of fires and so goes the saga of summers in Alaska. The smoke has been so thick at times you have to look hard to see the flight of the ball, but this has not deterred many from enjoying the game.
