Nutrition classes slated

The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank will begin a series of nutrition classes titled "Eating Right is Basic." Classes will meet at 3 p.m. every Monday, today through Aug. 30 at the food bank. Colleen Deal will instruct. Classes will focus on processing natural Alaska resources, such as wild game, berries and salmon. The class objective is how to meet dietary needs and lose weight at the same time. For more information, call Cameron O'Connell at 262-3111.

Swim lessons offered

Kenai Central High School swimming pool's summer hours are as follows: Lap swim is from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. Mondays through Fridays; a swim workout is from 8 to 9 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; swimming lessons are from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. daily; open swim is from 1 to 2:45 p.m. daily; and private swimming lessons or pool rentals are available from 3 to 4 p.m.

The cost for lap or open swim time is $3, or $25 for a punch card good for 10 sessions.

Group swimming lesson sessions will be offered today through July 23 and July 26 to Aug. 6. Daily lessons are 40 minutes. The cost is $40 per session. Private lessons are $10 per hour.

Blood donations needed

The Blood Bank of Alaska is seeking blood donations. Community members who make a donation now through July 23 will be eligible to win prizes from area businesses. For more information, call 260-5672.

WRCC fund-raiser slated

The 20th annual WRCC-KSRM Radiothon will be held Sept. 13. Volunteers are being sought to work remote teams and help organize the event. It is the only major fund-raiser held for Women's Resource and Crisis Center. For more information or to volunteer, call June at 283-9479.
