Writers pencil in meeting

The Peninsula Writers Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. today in the Kenai Municipal Library conference room. It is open to the public. Anyone wishing to share their work should bring extra copies for the group.

Gallery hosts summer artists

Fireweed Gallery is hosting meet-the-artist sessions this summer at its gallery in Homer. Artists will be available in July and August to exhibit and talk about their work. Demonstrations and workshops are scheduled, with demonstrations at the gallery and workshops at the Homer Council on the Arts. Writing workshop set

The Alaska Writers Guild will hold a writing workshop Aug. 10, 11 and 12 at the Loussac Library in Anchorage. It will feature full-time professionals in each of the required steps to become a published author. Presenters are James Alexander Thom and Dark Rain Thom, authors; Renni Browne, editor; Jeff Herman and Deborah Herman, agents; Rudy Shur, publisher; and John Kremer, marketing. The next meeting of the Alaska Writers Guild will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the first-floor conference room at the library.

Show seeks Alaskans

ABC TV's "Wife Swap," is casting families from Alaska to be a part of its fourth season.

All families featured on the show receive a $20,000 honorarium. Referrals for families are welcome. The show offers a $1,000 finder's fee to individuals recommending families who are featured on the show.

Potential families can live anywhere in Alaska and should consist of two parents who have at least one child, age 6 or older, living at home. The premise of "Wife Swap" is one parent from each household swaps places for a week to experience how another family lives. Any family can apply. The show is especially looking for families with businesses (restaurants, hotels, touring businesses, fishing, etc.), Native families, families that have relocated or have unique lifestyles.
