ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Gov. Tony Knowles ordered state flags lowered to half-staff Friday in memory of Anchorage Police Officer Justin T. Wollam.

Wollam was born and raised in Danbury, Texas. After graduating from high school, Wollam served in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft support technician from 1991 to 1995. He spent two years with the Angleton, Texas police department before being hired at the Anchorage Police Department in 1999.

Wollam is survived by his wife, Kristy, and 4-year old daughter Kristin. A memorial service was scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the Anchorage Baptist Temple.
