BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- The Idaho Christian Coalition is disbanding after more than a decade of advocacy work, urging its followers to instead support the Idaho Chooses Life Alliance.
''The Idaho Christian Coalition Board of Directors surveyed the many issues and principles that are dear to our heart and found several quality organizations battling for the truth, in a distinctive way, for these biblical principles,'' the group's leaders wrote in a letter posted June 29 on their Web site.
Board members Bob Forrey and Bob Hoover said talk of folding began several months ago as groups like Idaho Chooses Life became more powerful. The coalition did not want to dilute the conservative Christian voice in Idaho, Hoover said.
State Rep. Bill Sali, R-Meridian, who worked with the coalition, and Dottie Christensen, Canyon County coordinator for the Interfaith Alliance of Idaho, which opposed the coalition, said the group's dissolution will have little effect since many others support the same message.
