Boozer to join Williams, graduate early
DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke center Carlos Boozer will join All-America teammate Jason Williams and leave school for the pros after next season, according to Blue Devils assistant coach Chris Collins.
Collins says Boozer plans to graduate after his junior year and will make himself available for the NBA draft. Boozer averaged 13.3 points and 6.5 rebounds as a sophomore last season when the Blue Devils won their third national championship under coach Mike Krzyzewski.
Boozer grew up in Juneau and was a high school basketball star.
Williams, a point guard, said earlier this year that he plans to graduate early and next season will be his last with the Blue Devils.
''What we're trying to do is be proactive,'' Collins said. ''Kids look to leave early and we try to work with them and plan what's good for them.''
Tennis stars Agassi, Graf expecting baby
LAS VEGAS -- Tennis stars Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf confirmed Thursday they are expecting a baby.
''This is a very exciting time for us,'' Agassi said in a statement. ''We are so happy to have been blessed with this gift.''
The baby, the first for both, is due in mid-December.
''I do not know what their plans are for marriage,'' said Todd Wilson, spokesman for Agassi Enterprises.
Agassi was previously married to actress Brooke Shields. After they married in April 1997, Agassi's ranking tumbled to No. 141. They divorced two years later, and when he began dating Graf in 1999 in Paris, he began a career comeback by winning the French Open. He's currently the third-ranked men's player in the world.
Graf retired after the 1999 Wimbledon tournament. Agassi, who was seeded second, lost to Patrick Rafter in the Wimbledon semifinals last week.
