The accident occurred on late Thursday afternoon on Mendenhall Loop Road.

The truck, which is owned by Miller Construction, lost its brakes and hit the bus near the top of the hill above Auke Bay, police said.

The truck rolled down the hill and into a parking lot, where it struck a parked boat. The vehicle stopped after driving over an embankment.

The driver, 47 year old Donald Dillon, was not injured. He was cited for negligent driving and failure to wear a seat belt.

Damage to the truck was estimated at $5,000. It was examined by commercial vehicle inspectors and placed out of service as an unsafe vehicle.

The bus also sustained about $5,000 in damage. Damage to the boat was estimated at $2,000.
