ANCHORAGE (AP) Elmendorf Air Force Base will begin a six-day exercise on Sunday.
The exercise, called Polar Force, will be conducted by the 3rd Wing. It will include flying operations and simulated bombings, sirens and loudspeaker communications.
Officials said the first phase of the round-the-clock exercise will give them a chance to gauge Elmendorf's readiness and ability to deploy people, cargo and planes.
The goal of the second phase is to test the 3rd Wing's combat survival and operational skills.
The exercise will conclude Friday.
