Salmon Run

Posted: Thursday, July 13, 2006

The run of the mighty salmon

From the ocean to our streams

Nature brings her bounty

To fulfill the angler and his dreams

Poles, hooks, waders, nets and pride

We all await the magic

Brought in at every tide

Their journey still not over

In their endeavor to come home

To maneuver past the lures and dangers

That await them if they roam

Reds, humpies, silvers and kings

They drop their roe in sacrifice

Their silver turns red and head turns green

Their lips curl up as they enter the stream

The cycle is completed

As the roe starts to hatch

The anglers get geared up

For next year’s bountiful catch.
