Kenai hosts Little League all-stars

Kenai Little League played host to the South Pool of the district junior all-star tournament, for teams of 13- and 14-year-old players.

The Kenai squad opened the tournament Thursday with a 13-0 win over Seward, but suffered a 20-9 setback against Kodiak Friday. Kenai defeated Seward 14-1 Sunday.

Kodiak defeated Seward 10-1 Saturday and was to play Kenai Monday before wrapping up the tournament Tuesday against Seward.

The pool winner advance to the district tournament this weekend at Knik.

Kenai will host the senior all-stars (15- and 16-years old) later this week.

Football camp starts Monday

The Kenai Peninsula Football Camp begins Monday. The camp is open to all Pop Warner age players and will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day Monday through July 20 at the Soldotna High School football field. The cost of the camp is $50. For more information, e-mail coach Sarge Truesdell at
