Dance workshops held
Kannettic energy is holding dance workshops at the Triumvirate Theatre in the Peninsula Center Mall. Adult Latin dance will be offered Friday and July 22, tai-chi chuan will be offered Monday, hip hop for 9- to 11-year-olds will be offered today, Monday and July 21; and hip hop for 6- to 8-year-olds will be offered Wednesday. Stained glass class offered
Danny Shannon and Morning Star Studio in Homer will teach stained glass methods from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and July 23 and 30. Participants will create three 1-foot-by-1-foot pieces while learning intermediate-level stained glass skills. The class costs $180. Supply costs are additional. Art workshops ongoing
The Across the Bay Tent and Breakfast Adventure Company near Seldovia will hold various art workshops throughout the summer. Alaska author Bill Sherwonit will teach an adventure travel writing workshop from July 29 to 31. The cost is $295, plus tax.
Artist and sculptor Katherine Coons will help artists of all levels express their experiences and surroundings through contemporary painting in a "conceptual landscape painting" workshop from Aug. 12 to 14. The cost is $265, plus tax.
Mushroom expert Chris Riggio will help students identify the species, macroscopic features and habitats of wild Alaska mushrooms, along with giving cooking tips, from Aug. 26 to 28. The cost is $280, plus tax.

Nominations are being solicited for the 2005 Governor's Awards for the Arts and Humanities. Nomination forms for the arts awards are available on the Web at www.eed.state.ak.us/ aksca and from the Alaska State Council on the Arts at (888) 278-7424.

The deadline is Aug. 1. Awards will be presented by the governor and first lady Oct. 21 at a dinner ceremony in Fairbanks at the University of Alaska Museum of the North.
