Barrel horse racers compete

The Kenai Peninsula district of the National Barrel Horse Association held a competition Wednesday at the Soldotna Equestrian Arena. There will continue to be weekly races on Wednesdays at 7 a.m. through August. The races are for weekly points and a nightly jackpot.

Kodiak Little League advances to Knik

Kodiak advanced in the South Pool of the district junior all-star tournament, hosted by Kenai Little League. The tournament is for teams of 13- and 14-year-old players.

Kodiak defeated Seward 10-1 on Tuesday and Kenai 8-7 on Monday to advance to the district tournament this weekend in Knik.

The senior all-star tournament, for 15- and 16-year-old players, begins this Saturday. Anchorage West and Kodiak will play at Coral Seymour Memorial Park at 7 p.m. on Saturday, while Palmer and Kenai will play at the Kenai Little League Fields at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
