Brown, Merchant unite after 50 years

Bettina C. Brown and Jesse F. Merchant and were married at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2001, at the Reflection Lake Chapel in Soldotna. The Rev. Phil Edgerly officiated.

The matron of honor was Willow Stover. The bride's granddaughters, Chrystelle Whitney and Hailey Whitney, were the ring bearer and flower girl.

The groom was attended by the bride's sons Clark Whitney Jr., Brian Whitney and Charles Whitney.

A reception followed at the Eagles Club in Kenai.

Bettina and Jesse were childhood sweethearts and high school classmates. They graduated from Beals High School in Beals, Maine, in 1952.

The couple honeymooned in Maine. They live in Kenai, where they own Grandma and Grandpa's Day Care.

Forms for engagements and weddings are available at the Clarion's Kenai and Soldotna offices. Color or black and white pictures also may be submitted. Photos with an address written on the back will be returned.

Weddings must be submitted within six months to be printed.
