ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Officials with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game issued a reminder that the Kenai River is off-limits to guide-boat fishing on Sundays and Mondays.
The state has concluded that it is illegal to fish on the river on those days from any boat that is registered with the state for guiding, even if it is registered to fish only on other river systems and even if the angler is not paying for guide services.
The law was reviewed after some anglers complained about people fishing from drift boats with guide stickers on their hulls on Mondays.
Monday has been set aside as a drift-only day on the Kenai.
