Nikiski resident Heather Faeo died July 1, 2003, at Children's Hospital in Denver as a result of injuries sustained in an accident on May 17. She was 14.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, July 25, at the Nikiski Middle-Senior High School Auditorium.
Heather was born March 30, 1989, in Anchorage and moved to Nikiski in 1990. She attended preschool at Nikiski Church of the Nazarene and kindergarten at North Star Elementary School. She attended first through sixth grade at Nikiski Elementary School, and she had just finished eighth grade at Nikiski Middle-Senior High School, where she was a sprinter on the track team.
She loved drawing, writing, reading and computer graphics.
"She was a loving, generous girl with a wonderful imagination, who brought joy to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her death is a tragic loss, and she will be missed by many people," her family said.
Heather is survived by her mother, Laura Faeo of Nikiski; father, Larry Faeo of Round Rock, Texas; grandmother, Gayle Barrett of Denver; grandfather, William Barrett of San Jose, Calif.; uncles, Len Barrett of Newark, Del., Tony Faeo of Anchorage and Robert Faeo of Oklahoma City; aunt, Barbara Faeo of Palmer; and cousins Lena Barrett, Christopher Faeo and Maggie Hester.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a memorial fund for Nikiski Middle-Senior High School.
