WRANGELL (AP) -- Alaska State Troopers are investigating the death of a Wrangell guide near a bear-viewing area, Wrangell Police said.
Todd Harding, 44, died Monday near the Anan bear observatory about 50 miles south of Wrangell, Police Chief Tom Clemons said.
Harding was at the bear observatory with clients at the time of his death, Clemons told KTSK radio. He would not say whether bears were involved.
Police would not discuss any of the circumstances leading to his death, saying they are the subject of the troopers' investigation.
''I don't have any information,'' Lt. Doug McCloskey of the Wrangell Police said Wednesday.
Greg Wilkinson, a spokesman for the troopers in Anchorage, said he was unaware of the status of the investigation.
