BETHEL (AP) -- A 5-year-old Emmonak boy drowned in the Kwiguk River, Alaska State Trooper said Sunday.

Dylan Ray Peters, and two playmates, were playing Friday night along the bank of the river near the city dock when the boy slipped into the water and was unable to get back out, troopers said.

The boy's mother, 35-year-old Gloria Peters, was looking for her son when his playmates told her that Dylan had fallen into the river.

Peters contacted the Emmonak Village police officer, who conducted a search and found the boy's body. It was released to the family.
