DILLINGHAM (AP) -- A 16-year-old boy was missing Sunday and feared drowned in a boating accident on Six Mile Lake near Nondalton, Alaska State Troopers said.
Two teen-agers, 16-year-old Gabe Trefim and 16-year-old Clarence Harried, were out in the boat on the lake at around 1:30 a.m. Saturday when it capsized.
Gabe Trefim's cries for help brought his father, Melvin, to his rescue. Melvin Trefim took another boat out on the lake and was able to locate his son, but efforts to find Clarence Harried were unsuccessful.
Local residents looked throughout the day. Two divers, and an underwater camera also were used in the search. Volunteers in boats dragged the lake, and a plane was used for an aerial search.
Troopers said neither teen was wearing a life jacket.
The search continued Sunday.
