ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Police charged four people with robbery, burglary and kidnapping for allegedly holding a man and a woman at gunpoint in their Anchorage apartment.

Alvin Philpotts, 25; Lemarlo Mitchell, 23; Rodney Moulton, 23; and Ramon Ruiz, 21, were charged Saturday for demanding money, ransacking the apartment and smoking crack cocaine, according to charging documents.

The men told the victims they were from out of state and were in Alaska to rob former drug dealers, according to charging documents.

The male victim was released from prison recently after serving time for selling drugs, charging documents said.

The incident started at 1:30 a.m. Friday when the male victim was dropped off by a friend at his apartment. As the man passed a white van and opened his garage, five men dressed in dark clothing and wearing masks left the van, surrounded him and thumped him in the head with a nightstick. He was handcuffed and taken into his apartment, where his girlfriend was sleeping.

The victim's landlady called Anchorage police.

When police arrived, the men fled and were arrested several hours later.
