Soldotna chamber to hold luncheon today

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will hold its weekly luncheon today at noon at the Riverside House. The speaker will be Sen. John Torgerson, R-Kasilof. For more information, call the chamber at 262-9814.

KDLL board meeting scheduled for tonight

KDLL-FM Public Radio's board of directors will meet tonight at 7 at the KDLL studio, in the Economic Development District Building, three miles north of Kenai. The meeting is open to the public.

Senior center plans garage sale

The Nikiski Senior Center on Island Lake Road will be holding a garage sale this Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Plenty of good household items will be available.

Blood Bank hosting community blood drive

The Blood Bank of Alaska-Kenai Peninsula Center is experiencing critical blood shortages of all types.

On Saturday from noon to 5 p.m., the Bank will host a community blood drive at the Cottonwood Country Club. For more information, call 260-5672.

Kaladi brothers to feature artist of the month

The Kaladi Brothers will feature Mike Morgan on July 20 from 6:30 to 8 p.m., along with Artist of the Month, Sarah Glaves.

Red Cross continues to offer weekly classes

The Red Cross is offering weekly classes throughout the peninsula, in basic first aid and CPR. Classes will take place July 24 and 25 from 6 to 10 p.m. and July 27 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The location is the Kenai River Center, and the cost is $65. Chess tournament to be held in Kenai

A United States Chess Federation rated tournament will be held at the Kenai Merit Inn on July 27 and 28. Registration will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on July 27. USCF membership is required, and the cost for entry is $25 for adults, $20 for ages 15-19, $15 for ages 14 and under and $20 for seniors. The tournament will be five rounds and will use the Swiss pairing system. For more information, call George Lombardi at 776-5365.

Kenai Skate Park changes location

The Kenai Recreation Skate Park has moved, and is now located at the Kenai Recreation Center at 227 Caviar St. in Kenai. The park is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For more information, call the Parks and Recreation office at 283-3855.

Progress Days' parade applications still available

Parade applications are still available at the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce for the 42nd Annual Progress Days Parade to be held on July 27.

There also are vendor spaces available for Soldotna's Progress Days celebration.
