It’s about time

The city of Kenai will dedicate its town clock at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 20 at Lief Hansen Memorial Park with a reception following at the park gazebo.

Soldotna grads to get together

The Soldotna High School Class of 1996 reunion will be held July 21-23. At 6 p.m. July 21, graduates and their families will meet at Hooligan’s Saloon in Soldotna; at 7:30 p.m. July 22 they will meet for dinner at Paradiso’s Restaurant in Kenai; and at 11 a.m. July 23 there will be a picnic at Kenai Municipal Park.

Horses’ role in treatments discussed

The Kenai Community Library will host a presentation by Laurie Nelson titled “Using Horses as Intervention for Mental Health Concerns” from 6:30 to 8 p.m. July 24 in the conference room. For more information, call 283-4378.

Friends have book sale covered

The Friends of the Kenai Community Library will hold its annual book sale July 28 and 29 at the library. The presale for Friends members will be from 5 to 8 p.m. July 27. The public sale will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 28 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 29.

Sterling seniors counting on good fundraiser

The Sterling Senior Center is holding its annual Kenai River Sockeye Salmon Count Classic fundraiser. Tickets are $2 each to guess the number of sockeyes that cross the Fish and Game counter as of noon Aug. 10. Half of the proceeds will be divvied up between the three closest guesses. The deadline to buy tickets is 5 p.m. July 28. Tickets are available at the Soldotna and Kenai Tesoro stations; Soldotna Chamber of Commerce; in Sterling at the Great Alaska Fish Camp, Bing Brown’s, Merkes RV Park and Moose River Auto; and in Nikiski from Dee Rappe at Delaires.
