Andy Preston and Kip Masuda each hit two-run home runs, and the Peninsula Oilers defeated the AIA Alaska Fire 10-2 Friday at Growden Memorial Park in Fairbanks in Alaska Baseball League play.

Saturday, the Oilers game with the Mat-Su Miners was postponed due to rain. As of early Saturday night, there was no date set for the makeup contest. The Oilers remain in first place and one-half game ahead of the Miners in the ABL. The Oilers play at the Anchorage Bucs today at 2 p.m.

Friday, Jake Kahaulelio had a pair of doubles for the Oilers and scored twice, and chipped in with a double during the Oilers’ four-run second inning. David Newby hit an RBI double in the seventh.

Preston’s dinger came in the third inning, and Masuda cleared the fence in the top of the sixth inning.

Chris Saddoris earned the win for the Oilers, giving up one run on seven hits in six innings for work. Saddoris struck out six and walked just one batter.

Mike Koons pitched a scoreless seventh, striking out two batters, but the Fire touched up Kevin Matsumoto for a run on two hits in the eighth.

Taylor Bills pitched the ninth, working around a pair of AIA hits and through heavy rain to close out the game.

Chris Albrecht took the loss for the Fire, giving up eight runs on seven hits in five innings of work.

The Oilers took two of three games from the Fire in Fairbanks and won the season series 6-1.
