Kenai Mayor Pat Porter, left, is shown dancing with Larry Dean, founder of the Forget-Me-Not Band on June 20 at the Forget-Me-Not Center in Kenai. Mayor Porter was on hand to help celebrate Dean's 20th anniversary of his band. Dean has served as a volunteer at the center the longest. Porter presented Dean with an album featuring pictures of the band over the years and stories and handwritten notes from the center's members. Linda Flowers, current center director, not shown, said, "I can attest to the enjoyment that the seniors derive from the chance to reminisce about the barn and community dances of their youth and a chance to take a whirl around the dance floor again. Larry and the band's contribution to the center are priceless." The center is an adult day center for seniors who, due to chronic disease or accident, need some assistance.
