Traffic accident fatal to soldier from Nome

FORT RILEY, Kan. (AP) -- A soldier from Nome serving at Fort Riley was killed last week in a motor vehicle accident north of the post, the Army announced Tuesday.

The victim was identified as Pfc. Nolan Lockwood, 24. He joined the Army two years ago and had been at Fort Riley since last August as a signal support specialist. He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 4th Battalion, 1st Field Artillery.

The accident happened Friday north of Fort Riley. It is being investigated by Riley County Police and the Army.
