JUNEAU (AP) A 28-year-old cruise ship passenger faced a Juneau judge Thursday after he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman on his vessel.

Guillermo Orozco, a Mexican citizen, required a Spanish-speaking interpreter at his arraignment before Juneau District Judge Peter Froehlich on a felony charge of sexual assault.

Froehlich ordered Orozco to be held in the Lemon Creek Correctional Center in lieu of a $100,000 cash bond, at the request of assistant district attorney Doug Gardner.

Orozco was arrested in Skagway and transported to Juneau by Alaska State Troopers on Thursday, spokesman Greg Wilkinson said.

Orozco, who had been a passenger on the Royal Caribbean's Vision of the Seas, is accused of sexually assaulting a 22-year-old woman from El Paso, Texas, while the cruise was 15 miles out of Glacier Bay, he said.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for next Friday.
