One of three suspects arrested after man shot in knee

Posted: Friday, July 18, 2003

ANCHORAGE (AP) An argument Thursday afternoon left a man shot in the left knee, Anchorage police said.

Nick Novelli, 22, was transported to Alaska Regional Hospital, police spokesman Ron McGee said.

Clint Registe, 21, was charged with felony assault and evidence tampering.

The shooting occurred around 3 p.m. McGee said three young men started arguing with Novelli as he left a trailer in the Mountain View neighborhood of East Anchorage. Police said Registe apparently pulled a handgun from his waistband and shot Novelli.

Novelli told police the shooting was a case of mistaken identity. He said he does not know Registe or the other men.

The three men fled before police arrived. Registe was apprehended a short time later in Mountain View. Police are seeking the other men.
