Low-cost helmets available

The Kenai Peninsula Safe Kids for the central peninsula has low-cost helmets available. Bike helmets are $5 and multisport helmets are available for $10. For more information, call Jane at 714-4539 or Dr. Byron McCord's office at 262-5472.

Nutrition classes scheduled

The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank will hold nutrition classes titled Eating Right is Basic. Classes meet at 3 p.m. every Monday through Aug. 30 at the food bank. Colleen Deal will instruct. Classes will focus on processing natural Alaska resources, such as wild game, berries and salmon. The class objective is how to meet dietary needs and lose weight at the same time. Health center board to meet

Neighborhood Watch meeting planned

The Woodland Neighborhood Watch will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sears Elementary School library. The topic will be a neighborhood cleanup planned for Aug. 14. For more information, call Lisa at 283-3478 or visit www.woodlandwatch.com.

Campground construction slated

Construction work on the Chugach National Forest Trail River Campground will begin Thursday and continue through next summer. Campground improvements will include new sites, and facilities will be accessible to those with disabilities.

KCHS plans reunions

The Kenai High School Class of 1964 will celebrate its 40-year reunion July 30, 31 and Aug. 1 on the Kenai Peninsula. Students attending the school from 1950 to 1970, as well as parents and teachers from that era, are invited to join the weekend festivities at Kenai Landing, formally Columbia Wards Cannery.
