Overloaded trailer drags pickup off K-Beach Road, slowing traffic

Posted: Sunday, July 18, 2010

A pickup truck with an overloaded trailer rolled off Kalifornsky Beach Road Friday evening.

Alaska State Troopers said that the trailer was substantially overloaded with drain pipe, which destablized the vehicle. The trailer jackknifed and dragged the truck off the road. Trooper Tim Abbott said that the truck rolled, which damaged the front end and undercarriage of the truck.

"It was towed from the scene," he said. "It's pretty much totaled."

Troopers stayed on the road for about an hour to monitor what became a single lane of traffic. A fire truck was deployed because the fuel began leaking from the ruptured gas tank.

The single occupant of the truck survived the crash reportedly unscathed, according to Abbott.
