Adolph "Rudy" Corona,

Kenai resident, Mr. Adolph "Rudy" Corona, 78, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at his home in Kenai.

Funeral mass will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, at the Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Kenai. Burial will follow the services at the Kenai City Cemetery. Father Andy will be officiating. A gathering/Potluck will follow back at the church for a reception celebrating his life. Pallbearers will include; Luis Corona, Raymond Corona, Chase Corona-Cain, Tim Iverson, Jacob Iverson, and Robert Anderson.

Mr. Corona was born June 11, 1932 to Genard Corona and Soledad Camarillo in Pacoima, CA. He graduated from San Fernando High School and furthered his education by taking night classes. Rudy moved his family to Alaska in 1980, where they lived for 14 years on the Peninsula. In 1994 he and his wife moved to Washington for 5 years before moving back to Alaska for good. Rudy was employed as a custodian for the school district in the State of California, Kenai Peninsula Community College, and The School District in Washington. He also worked for VECO in the oilfield. The job he enjoyed the most was managing the Snow Ridge Apartments in North Bend, WA until he retired in 1999.

Rudy received the Custodian of the Year award for the L.A. School District. He loved football, baseball and spoiling his grandkids.

"Rudy was married to his loving wife, Elaine for 45 years. Together they raised their children with much love and the value of family. He instilled great life values in each one of his children that will be carried through generations," his family said. "Rudy was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, who loved to spoil his children and grandchildren with love and laughter. He would always have a great story to tell with humor. He had a huge heart and never hesitated to give a helping hand. He always made people he barely knew feel like they were family in his home. He was loved and respected by many As long as love remembers, we will have these memories of him. He was a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and our hero.

Mr. Corona was preceded in death by parents; brothers, Joe, Gene, and Manuel Corona; sisters, Cruez Corona and Jenny Rincon.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Corona of Kenai, AK; daughters, Norma Reyes of Kenai, Dianna Corona of Kenai, Rita Rushing of Seattle, WA, Maria Iverson and her husband Tim of Soldotna, and Yvonne Anderson and her husband Robert of Soldotna; son, Luis Corona of Soldotna; step children, Theresa Riggins, Lisa Decasas, Colleen Margis, and Michael Rushing; sisters, Sadie Vallerio, Rachel Reyes, and Sally Sanchez; 29 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
