Bagley to speak at Nikiski chamber today

The North Peninsula Chamber of Commerce is holding its weekly luncheon meeting today at noon at the Lighthouse Inn. Borough Mayor Dale Bagley will be speaking.

Slikok Creek to be discussed

The Kenai Watershed Forum presents a fisheries walk with Mary Price from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service today at 1 p.m. The walk will take place at Slikok Creek Park and will focus on juvenile salmon, sport fishing and walkway protection. For more information, call 260-5449.

Wilderness survival class planned

Ed French, an emergency medical technician in Soldotna, will share his knowledge of wilderness survival Saturday from 7 to 8 p.m. The presentation is at Captain Cook State Recreation Area near Discovery Campground site No. 15.

Farmer's market set for Saturday

The Central Peninsula Farmer's Market will be open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is across from Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts in Soldotna between the Tesoro station and King Salmon Restaurant. For more information, call 262-5463 or 262-7502.

Public can meet, question judges at Monday forum

Residents will have an opportunity to meet judges and ask questions about the courts at a forum Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Merit Inn banquet room at 260 S. Willow St. in Kenai.

Progress Days participation still sought

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce is accepting parade entries and contracts for vendor spaces for the 41st annual Progress Days parade and celebration July 28. Both can be obtained at the chamber office in Soldotna. For more information, call 262-9814.

Community celebration scheduled

Sterling Community Days will take place Aug. 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the log cabin on the corner of the Sterling Highway and Swanson River Road. There will be a 5- and 10-kilometer run, a bike race for age groups from 2 to 15, an auction, barbecue, clowns and kids' games and entertainment. For more information, call 262-6764.

One set of 'Safe Sitter' classes remains

The last date for Safe Sitter classes is Aug. 6 and 7. Classes are open to 11- to 13-year-old boys and girls. Participants can register at the hospital. Registrations are on a first-come, first-served basis and the cost is $35. For more information, call 262-8172.
