Community helps make annual Kenai River Classic a success
On behalf of the Kenai River Sportfishing Association board of directors, membership and staff, as well as the Kenai River Classic Committee, National Advisory Council and our irreplaceable Classic volunteer corps, I am very pleased and proud to extend our sincere thanks to the wonderful community in which we all live.
The Ninth Annual Kenai River Classic was a tremendous success. This success, to a great extent, can be attributed to the incredible hospitality and support of the many individuals, groups, businesses, agencies and organizations that are involved with the Classic and with the effort to protect and preserve the Kenai River. Of course, the great fishing and perfect weather didn't hurt either.
As with any worthwhile cause or endeavor, support is not universal. There are always some detractors, and sadly they are sometimes more vocal than they are informed.
However, the hundreds of folks directly involved in putting on the Classic and who participate in the projects and programs it helps to support deserve to be recognized for their positive and proactive contributions to the successful stewardship effort along the Kenai River -- and I am glad to take this opportunity to do so.
