The American Legion Twins baseball team took both ends of a doubleheader from the visiting Chugiak Mustangs Sunday at Coral Seymour Memorial Park in Kenai.
In the first game of the day, the Twins recovered from an early deficit to record a 6-5 win. Game two, shortened to five innings by rain, was a 3-1 Twins victory.
In the first game, Chugiak scored four runs on two hits and two Twins errors in the first inning.
The Twins began chipping away at the Chugiak lead in the first inning when Jacob Madrid doubled and scored when Erich Simpson reached on an error.
Kevin Epperheimer added another run with his solo homer in the third, and the Twins pulled to within a run when Jake Simpson doubled and scored in the sixth.
Chugiak added a run in the seventh, but the Twins responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame as Luke Mese and Madrid singled and scored and Jake Simpson reached on an error and scored.
Erich Simpson picked up the win with his four innings of relief work.
In the second game, the Mustangs scored a run in the top of the third inning but the Twins countered with three runs in the bottom of the inning for the win.
Doug Starrett walked and scored for the Twins, Jeff Kennedy singled and scored and Luke Mese reached when his sacrifice bunt was misplayed by the Mustangs and scored. Madrid and Jake Simpson each singled in the rally.
