The Kenai-Kodiak Office of Alaska State Forestry announced Sunday that the burning permit suspension has been lifted for small piles, due to light rain that fell this weekend. Large fires still are not permitted.
Permits are not valid during windy weather, and permit holders must call in daily prior to lighting a fire. They also must follow the terms on the permit.
State burn permits are valid only in unincorporated areas. Residents of Kenai, Soldotna, Homer, Seward and the Nikiski Fire Service Area should call local fire departments prior to burning.
