Hudson to begin graduate studies

Soldotna resident Jennie Hudson recently received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering at Colorado State University. While there, she was a member of Chi Epsilon Omega. Hudson will begin her graduate studies at CSU with an assistantship in hydraulic engineering.

She is the daughter of Lane and Ellen Hudson and sister of Christopher Hudson.

She is a 1999 graduate of Skyview High School.

Boy Scouts' achievements recognized

Members of Boy Scout Troop No. 672 recently held a Court of Honor to recognize scouts' rank, camp and merit badge advancements. The following scouts received recognition:

Jeremiah Berzanske Second class rank, basketry and communications merit badges.

Garret Williams Star Scout rank, rifle shooting, communications and Indian lore merit badges. Williams also was inducted into the Order of the Arrow.

Zachary Daly Star Scout rank, Indian lore, rifle shooting, communications and canoeing merit badges. Daly is a patrol leader and also was inducted into the Order of the Arrow.

Kevin Culhane Star Scout rank and communications merit badge. Culhane is the assistant senior patrol leader and also was inducted into the Order of the Arrow.

Ryan Hatt Second class rank, wilderness survival, basketry, mammals and communications merit badges.

Richard Hatt Senior patrol leader, rifle shooting and forestry merit badges.

Charles Crowell Communications merit badge and assistant patrol leader. Crowell also was inducted into the Order of the Arrow.

Steven Noble Eagle Scout silver palm, orienteering, pets and public speaking merit badges.

The troop is planning a 50-mile canoe trip on the Swan Lake Canoe Trails later this month.

Design originals: Cindy Rainey of Kenai, first; Loren Weimer of Soldotna, second, quilted by Lily Huebsch; and Connie Goeltz of Soldotna, third.

Miniatures: Maxine Clouatre of Kasilof, first; Zada Friedersdorff of Soldotna, second and third.

Treadle race winners were Cyndy Genadek in the adult division; Janine Ray in the teen division; and Natawai Hammack in the youth division. Genadek received a new Pfaff sewing machine from J and H Sewing and Vacuum.

The grand door prize winner was Mona Painter of Cooper Landing.

Dammeyer receives doctorate

Soldotna resident Maria Amparo Dammeyer recently received her doctor of philosophy degree from the University of Wyoming.

Reilly makes dean's list

Kenai resident Joshua Reilly recently was named to the dean's list at Western State College. He is majoring in political science.

Reilly is a graduate of Nikiski Middle-Senior High School.

Senette makes dean's list

Soldotna resident Jennifer Senette recently was named to the dean's list at Northern University. To be named to the list, a student must have at least a 3.5 grade point average.

She is the daughter of Brent and Lynn Senette and a 2003 graduate of Soldotna High School.
