SoHi cheerleading tryouts start today

The Soldotna High School football cheerleading tryouts will be from 12:30 to 3 p.m. today through Wednesday at the SoHi football field.

Tryouts will be held rain or shine. Participants must have a current physical to tryout.

Blood donations needed

The Blood Bank of Alaska is seeking blood donations. Community members who make a donation now through Friday will be eligible to win prizes from area businesses. For more information, call 260-5672.

Social Security reps to visit area

Social Security Administration representatives will be on the Kenai Peninsula from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Seward City Hall; from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Kenai City Hall; and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Homer Senior Citizens Center. Volleyball camp set

A three-day team building volleyball camp will be offered at 9 a.m. Tuesday through Friday at Soldotna High School. A second session will begin at 6 p.m. each day. All high school players in grades nine through 12 are eligible to play. Idaho Sate University head coach Mike Welch will instruct. The cost is $195 per player. Casey to speak at chamber meeting

Nancy Casey of Casey Planning and Designing will be the featured speaker at the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce meeting at noon Tuesday at the Riverside House. Her topic will be the scenic byway plan. For more information, call Shanon at 262-9814.

Library plans book sale

The Soldotna Public Library will hold its annual Progress Days used nook sale from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the library.

A preview of the sale will be from noon to 4 p.m. Friday. The cost is $10 for any interested community members to have an opportunity to purchase books before the sale Saturday. Coupon books for the sale will be handed out during the Progress Days Parade. For more information, call 262-4227.

Gospel quartet to perform

Liberty, a southern gospel quartet, will perform at 11 a.m. Sunday at Peninsula Grace Brethren Church. There is no admission fee. An offering will be taken in support of its ministry. For more information, call 262-6442.

SoHi pool offering swimming lessons

The Soldotna High School pool is offering registration for its summer swimming lessons from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Sessions include 10, 40-minute lessons for levels two through five and 10, 30-minute lessons for level one. The cost is $40 for group lessons or $10 per hour for private lessons.

Car wash fund-raiser set
